The redevelopment of the Arnika Hotel in Janské Lázně makes use of the sloping site while retaining part of the original load-bearing structure. Two volumes of four and five storeys are joined by a lower base containing a restaurant and garages, with a green roof that blends into the surrounding slope.

Timber, stone, exposed concrete and white render distinguish the hotel's different sections and relate to its mountain setting. Mono-pitch roofs, glazing and terraces soften the scale of the building. Embedding the garages in the terrain reduces their visual impact and frees up space for greenery.
